Palestine - Solar PV for the North Gaza Emergency Sewage Treatment Plant
The Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) commissioned Phase 1 of the "North Gaza Emergency Sewage Treatment (NGEST) Project", which requires a total of 12 MW of electric power under full operation conditions. Several potential sources of power supply for the NGEST had been considered, but all of them were discounted for various reasons.
The present study, commissioned by the World Bank in collaboration with PWA and the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resource Authority (PENRA), assessed the feasibility of supplying NGEST with electricity generated from solar power sources.

Poland - Polish SME Sustainable Energy Financing Facility ("PolSEFF")
Background: The EBRD places special emphasis on supporting investments that improve energy efficiency or promote renewable energy and has highlighted Poland's potential for sustainable energy investment as a priority in the Bank's country strategy for Poland. Energy prices in Poland are increasing, and significant amounts of energy are wasted through out-dated and inefficient equipment and a lack of monitoring and control devices. Through SEFFs (Sustainable Energy Financing Facilities), the EBRD can reach smaller projects to which it cannot lend directly. Each credit line is supported by a substantial and complex technical assistance package that builds capacity in the local market and helps investors and local PFIs (participating financial intermediaries) overcome some of the barriers that hinder the implementation of these investments
Objectives of the Project: PolSEFF is expected to create a self-sustaining market for investment in sustainable energy projects in the Polish SME sector. This will be achieved by ensuring that PFIs become familiar with appraising and financing eligible energy efficiency and small renewable energy investment projects, SMEs become aware of the competitive advantages of such investments, local experts have the technical expertise to assist SMEs in identifying and preparing technically feasible, bankable projects.

Regional - FWC BENEF 2013 - Multiple Framework Contract to Recruit Short-term Services - Lot 4
The objective of the FWC was to provide, via individual assignments defined and contracted through Specific Contracts, short-term expertise at very short notice.
The expertise refered to any stage of a project (except financial audits) and covered the following sectors: fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal), hydraulics, renewable energies (solar thermal, PV, hydro, wind, biomass, biofuels, geothermal, wave and marine), power grids (national/regional/cross-border, mini-grids, smart grids), energy services market development, institutional frameworks for energy management, energy sector studies/statistics/indicators, rural electrification, nuclear safety (nuclear power plant operation, operation of non-power generating nuclear or radiological installations, design safety, safeguards, non-proliferation, radio-active waste and its transport, offsite emergency preparedness, decommissioning; training of nuclear regulator and/or operator staff on nuclear safety topics).

Burkina Faso - Construction of MV lines (15, 20 and 33 kV) - Consulting Services for the Monitoring and Supervision of Works
The project includes the construction of some 1,200 km MV lines (15, 20 and 33 kV) with Almelec cables of various cross-sections as per the respective locations as well as the construction of about 300 km LV lines. The Consultant's services shall contribute to achieving the project's main objectives, i.e.
- the completion of the tender dossiers through additional studies,
- the selection of contractors,
- the review of plans and documents, final design and the supervision of works on site,
- monitoring of costs and of the adherence to the project planning,
- the establishment of professional and adequate work standards.

Georgia - Protection and Control Systems in ten Substations and Rehabilitation of the 35, 10 and 6 kV Switchgears in 13 Substations
GSE provides transmission and exclusive dispatch services to about 50 eligible companies in Georgia. Voltage levels include 500/400/330/220/110 and 35 kV. GSE and its subsidiary own the largest part of the high-voltage transmission network including the National Control Centre. GSE is constantly improving the system's availability and reliability through numerous investment measures. The current project considered two ongoing projects, i.e:
- Rehabilitation of protection and control systems of 10 substations of GSE, and
- Rehabilitation of the 35, 10 and 6 kV switchgears in 13 substations.
Both projects were in progress, with some parts being finalised; for others, commissioning, testing and taking over was ongoing.
USAID and GSE agreed to engage a new oversight consultant (OC) from December 2014 until the end of the projects.

Bangladesh - New 230/132 kV and 132/33 kV GIS substations
In its ‘Government Vision 2021’, the Government of Bangladesh plans to supply electricity throughout the country by the year 2021. A study of the whole transmission network of Bangladesh revealed that a considerable number of grid substations and transmission lines, especially in rural areas, will be overloaded. Also, a number of substations will need renovation and modification to replace their aged equipment and unconventional designs.
Against this background, the present study shall develop necessary measures concerning:
- New 230/132 kV and 132/33 kV GIS substations
- Transmission line and substation renovation/upgrading and development
The study shall prioritise proposed rehabilitation measures to account for different loan packages under discussion.
