Nigeria - Powering Progress: Successful Completion and Power Energization of Alagbon Substation!
We are delighted to share the news of a significant achievement—the successful Completion and Power Energization Ceremony of the Alagbon 330/132/33kV Substation. This milestone marks a substantial leap, increasing the existing capacity from 240 MVA to 440 MVA. The enhanced capacity will significantly improve power delivery to Eko DisCo, benefitting customers in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Banana Island, some parts of Lagos Island, and Lekki.

The expected activities under the proposed SCADA/EMS/OMS investments include the design, supply, and installation, and commissioning of the SCADA, including an EMS to enhance ZECO’s oversight and control of network operations. Congo - Performance of Technical, Environmental and Social Studies and Monitoring the Implementation of the Prohydro Programme
The project consists of the financing, construction and operation of hydropower plants and the corresponding transmission lines up to the REGIDESO (state water utility) water supply and treatment facilities, potential large consumers and of the distribution network to individual customers (households) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) located near the sites. The hydropower plants will be partially financed by the private sector (IPP, PPP) under a power purchase agreement (PPA).

Zafarana 50 MW Grid Connected PV Power Plant

Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) II
The Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German government and implemented by GIZ in collaboration with the Federal ministry of Power, Works and Housing (FMPWH), builds upon an initial 4-year phase during which NESP supported, inter alia, regulatory reforms allowing for the integration of variable ER, notably solar, into the grid.; the development of a structured bidding approach for competitive procurement of on-grid solar capacities and to enhance and better grid planning and operations.

Kazakhstan - Implementation of Wind Auctions
Synergy Consulting has been requested by the EBRD to support in preparing and implementing the first site-specific wind auction for 50-150 MW wind power project(s) (“the tender” or “the auction”). This entails: (i) identifying, selecting and preparing suitable site(s) for wind power project(s); (ii) developing and amending associated regulatory documentation and rules for the auction; and (iii) providing support for implementing the auction up to the project financial closure.

Moldova - Construction of 400 kV Vulcanesti - Chisinau Overhead Transmission Line
The project included the construction of the 400 kV transmission line connecting Vulcanesti Substation to Chisinau Substation and upgrading of the Chisinau and Vulcanesti Substations.
Western Balkans - Regional Feasibility Study for Voltage Profile Improvement
The project is part of the overall framework contract 'Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) - Infrastructure Project Facility - Technical Assistance 7 (IPF 7), Infrastructures: Energy, Environment, Transport and Social' which has been awarded to a consortium of nine European firms under the leadership of Hill International.
Burkina Faso, Mali - Feasibility studies of solar
The WAPP and the Governments of Mali and Burkina Faso are looking for a Consultant to carry out two technical and financial feasibility studies based on the “Plug & Play” solar park concept in Burkina Faso and Mali. These studies will also aim at defining the optimal strategy for the phasing of the construction of the solar parks with the consideration of storage batteries and their connection to the transmission network.

The Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe (GoZ) has received Grant funding from the African Development Fund (ADF) and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Grant to eligible payments under the contract for preparing Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) package reports for the following projects:
Ethiopia - Addis Ababa Transmission & Distribution System Rehabilitation & Upgrading Project
An Addis Ababa Distribution Master Plan (AADMP) was elaborated to identify a number of rehabilitation, short-term and medium-term subprojects to be undertaken until 2022 and 2034 respectively. These subprojects are summarised in the ‘Addis Ababa Transmission & Distribution System Rehabilitation & Upgrading Project (AATDRUP)’. They have been allocated into four suitable contract packages.
Mauritania - 225 kV Line Nouakchott - Zouerate and Associated Substations
The project consists of the construction of one 225 kV HV line between Nouakchott and Zouerate and the associated substations. It comprises two lots:

Guinea - Implementation of the National Dispatching
The general objective of this project is the monitoring and control of costs, of the quality and the time schedule of implementation works. The project includes all site works for the the National Dispatching Centre implementation. Following EDG's long-term master plan, the National Dispatching Centre shall integrate transmission lines at the level of 60 and 110 kV. The project has been interrupted due to the Ebola epidemic and new financing.
Cambodia - Extension of the Medium Distribution Grid
The objective of the project is to upgrade and expand distribution and transmission infrastructure for increased access to energy, improved electricity services for the rural population and to contribute to primary energy savings.
The tentative scope of the project is the following:
Viet Nam - Solar PV plant Phuoc Thai 2 and 3 - Gap closing in the preparation phase
The project concept design prepared by the Project Executing Agency EVN provides for 200 MWp of solar generation in three phases. The Government of Vietnam has requested financing support from German Financial Cooperation via KfW.
Phase 1 provides for 50 MWp, including DC to 22 kV AC invertors, a control building, access roads and a new 2 x 125 MVA 220/22 step-up substation to interconnect with EVN´s existing 220 kV double circuit transmission line.
Benin - Selection of IPP Consultant and IPP Transaction Advisor
In order to increase the effective installed generating capacity in Benin, a program has been established to attract the participation of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to develop, design, construct, operate and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) generation facilities in the country. The program includes the development of an IPP institutional framework and standard forms of contract as well as the execution of a competitive bidding process for GoB.
Morocco - NOOR Midelt Solar Power Complex CSP Program
NOOR Midelt ("NOORM") is the second solar power complex to be developed in the framework of Morocco's NOOR Solar Plan. It covers an area of about 2,400 hectares and is located some 25 km northeast of the city of Midelt. The total capacity shall be between 800-1600 MW, and the plant will comprise different CSP and PV technologies.
The project covers the development of one or more projects under an independent power production (IPP) scheme. The pertinent consulting services are the following:
Benin - Regional and Cotonou Electrical Distribution Grid Strengthening
The overall purpose of the project is the reinforcement and rehabilitation of the existing electricity distribution system in and around Cotonou and in the regional cities of Parakou, Natitingou, Djougou, and Porto Novo, including conducting the Environmental and Social Assessments (ESIAs) for this work. Works are divided into three activities and include inter alia the following technical measures:

Serbia - Čibuk 1 Wind Farm Project
Vetroelecktrane is developing and executing, together with their major shareholders Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company-Masdar and Continental Wind Partners (CWP), a wind farm consisting of 57 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) of 110m hub height and 2.8 MW rated power, 86 km 35 kV cables, main transformer station (35 kV/400 kV; 2x 90 MVA), 11 km double circuit 400 kV OHL and corresponding infrastructure.
Tanzania - Rusumo Falls Hydropower Project - Transmission Line Component (Tanzania part of the regional Burundi - Rwanda - Tanzania project)
The ‘Regional Hydropower Plant Rusumo Fall’ project was jointly developed by Burundi, Rwanda, and Tanzania. It includes the construction of a hydropower plant as well as the construction of 387 km of high-voltage lines and associated substations in the three countries (the present project).

UAE - Dubai EXPO 2020 - Design and Construction Supervision Consultancy Services
In 2020, the UAE will host the Expo 2020 in Dubai, which site is located adjacent to Al Makthoum International Airport and between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai International Airport. The site covers a total area of 4.38 km², and will have the capacity to accommodate up to 300,000 visitors per day and a total of 25 million visitors.
Kenya - Power Interconnection Project (KTPIP) (Kenyan Part)
Tanzania and Kenya have joined forces to construct a 400 kV interconnection line that runs from a proposed 400 kV substation at Isinya near Nairobi in Kenya up to Arusha in Tanzania (210 km) and further to a planned 400 kV substation in Singida (300 km). Works in Kenya comprise the following:
- Lot K1: Approx. 96 km of 400 kV transmission line between Isinya Substation and the Kenya-Tanzania border.
